2012 Highlights Include:
- Opened a Cultural Center that includes a Fair Trade Store and tours to the communities that we work in, to provide new markets for the women.
- Designed educational programs that are specific to the needs and capacity of each group.
- Graduate our current groups of women based on their self-sufficiency in managing their cooperatives, while also reaching out to new groups of women to participate in our educational programs.
- Structure OB as an organization of associations, forming a network of women artisans that participate in the General Assembly and are instrumental in decision making and future planning of OB.
- Developed a National Board of Directors and an Advisory Council in the United States.
- Form strong partnerships with national and international non-profits and businesses that share a similar organizational vision.

- Our annual plan each year is created through a participatory process with the entire staff. 2011 highlights include:
- Formation of a new legal Association in Guatemala with a new Board of Directors.
- Developing OB as a membership organization owned and operated by the women’s cooperatives.
- Development of the Women’s Center and Fair Trade store including launching our Day Tours and Extended Package Tours.
- Special events including International Women’s Day Celebration Artisan Exhibition and Leadership Assembly, International Indigenous Peoples Day Cultural Exhibition, and an International Rug-Hooking Exhibition (US).
- Planting medicinal plant community gardens.
- Workshops in our four focus areas including traditional medicinal plant knowledge and use, rug-hooking, women’s political participation (for election year!), small business and product development including in-store training on managing a Fair Trade Store, and more!
